Queensberry Hut

Queensberry Hut Assembly Architects Queenstown

Perched on the side of Queensberry Hill this simple gabled hut nestles among gnarled Matagouri, Kanuka and schist outcrops.    The cantilevered Eastern gable elevation is entirely glazed, affording views down to the Clutha river that snakes through the valley below, and wide sweeping views from Tarras to Lake Dunstan.  The remaining windows are minimal, and the hut is otherwise clad in corrugated corten steel.  Internal walls are lined in bandsawn and white washed Douglas Fir, punctuated by simple and functional plywood joinery.
